Last updated: 2026-07-04
Who We Are
Dictation Trainer ("we", "us", or "our") is operated by Lucky Code Studio, a registered individual business in the Republic of Korea (Business Registration No. 636-59-00277), located at 76 Keunumul-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea. We operate the website and service at dictationtrainer.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Service.
Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to dictationtrainer.com and its related subdomains. It does not cover third-party websites or services that may be linked from the Service; those are governed by their own privacy policies.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the Service:
- Account Information — Your name, email address, and profile picture when you create an account or sign in (including via Google sign-in), and the authentication identifiers needed to keep you logged in.
- Practice & Usage Data — Lessons you attempt, the answers you type during dictation, accuracy scores, mistakes, streaks, your in-app credit ("Echoes") balance, leaderboard standing, features used, and related timestamps.
- Device & Technical Data — IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, language preference, and similar diagnostic data.
- Payment Information — When you subscribe, billing is handled by our payment processor, Creem, which acts as the Merchant of Record. We receive only limited transaction data (such as plan, status, and partial card details). We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
- Support Communications — The content of support tickets, emails, and any attachments you send us.
- Cookies & Similar Technologies — See the Cookies section below.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Track your learning progress — scores, streaks, mistakes, and Echoes.
- Process subscriptions, payments, renewals, and receipts (through Creem).
- Send transactional messages such as security alerts, billing notices, and support replies.
- Generate sentence translations, pronunciation (IPA), and lesson audio using AI providers.
- Respond to your questions, feedback, and support requests.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
Legal Bases for Processing
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we process your personal data on these legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the Service), consent (where required, such as for certain cookies), and legal obligation (to comply with applicable law).
Children's Data
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 14 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-Party Service Providers (Subprocessors)
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate the Service, under appropriate agreements:
- Creem — payment processing and Merchant of Record (billing, invoices, and refunds).
- Google — optional sign-in (OAuth) authentication.
- OpenRouter — AI text processing for translations, pronunciation (IPA), and lesson drafting.
- fal.ai — text-to-speech generation of lesson audio.
- Resend — delivery of transactional email.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, hosting, and object storage (audio files).
We may also disclose data to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, property, or the safety of our users.
International Data Transfers
We are based in the Republic of Korea and use service providers that may process data in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers of personal data.
Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your data as described under Your Rights.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR/UK GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct their information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request, use your account settings or email us at the address below.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and preferences (such as your login session, language, and theme). We may use minimal analytics where enabled. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working.
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will reflect material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notifying you in-product or by email.
